Our crime report is a little dated (May - July), yet it does show that crime is happening across all our regions. As NSW was coming out of the previous restrictions so was the activity of criminals - see our crime report further below.

Domestic violence (assaults) has increased and stealing from retail stores is quite prevalent and these are only what is reported and recorded.

With COVID restrictions reinstated last month there may be a decline in Break & Enter incidents with residents at home more often, but a rise in assaults and a temptation to steal from retail shops.

The safety of our residents is a number one priority and it is unfathomable to understand the thinking of some citizens who think that by attending an unlawful protest gathering to express their personal beliefs and selfish attitude, are prepared to put other persons health at great risk.

Yes! the restrictions are hard for many to cope with and yet IF the virus is spread to many other persons then our lockdowns and restrictions may be extended for a greater period, causing more angst in the community. We will come out of this pandemic - lets ALL do our bit and stay safe and keep our neighbours safe.

Caught - West Ryde

On 28 July, the police were able to apprehend a number of youths attempting to steal items from parked vehicles in West Ryde. They were observed by residents checking car doors and reported to the police. Polair and a police dog were called into service.

On 27 July, a 21 year old male was apprehended after a break and enter incident - stealing cash from a resident's purse. The intruder was caught at West Ryde Railway station by Police using camera evidence supplied by the resident's CCTV.
